Not the next-gen model, but click above for Audi TT-S high-res gallery
Audi's next-gen TT may be getting a significant re-design, with a mid-engine placement if the swirling speculation around the interwebs is true. Now in its second-generation, the TT sits on Volkswagen's PQ35 platform (shared with the Volkswagen Eos and Tiguan) meaning customers are offered a front-engine chassis with a front- or all-wheel drive powertrain. When stacked against the front-engine BMW Z4 and mid-engine Porsche Boxster/Cayman, the current Audi TT holds its own... but that isn't keeping Ingolstadt engineers content. They realize that if they switch to a mid-engine design, like the one found on the amazing Audi R8, balance and handling will improve. Plus, Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system can be tailored with even more rearward torque bias. The third-gen TT, however, isn't set to debut until 2013. With Porsche moving closer to purchasing Volkswagen, a long lead may work to Audi's advantage as they'll have to convince the automaker from Stuttgart that a mid-engine TT won't chew into Boxster/Cayman sales.

Audi’s new A7 is still in development phase but we’ll tell you somethings we do know about Audi’s upcoming four-door coupe. The Audi A7, set to take on the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Porsche Panamera and BMW’s rumored 8-Series, will fit into Audi’s lineup between the A6 and A8.
The A7 uses the platform from the A6, but will have its engine mounted farther back to improve weight distribution. The car will also share engines with the A6 so expect to find the 3.2 liter V6 engine with 265 horsepower and a new turbocharged 3.0 liter engine with 300 horsepower. An Audi S7 is also expected with a 5.2 V10 FSI producing 460 horses.
The Audi A7 is expected to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show and will go on sale in 2010 as a 2011 model. Estimated price is expected to be between $50,000 and $65,000.

It takes months of traveling a particular route to properly time the stop lights, and even with the most intricate knowledge of every intersection, missing the red every time is about as probable as winning the lotto. Audi is looking to change that with a new stop light detection technology that communicates with specially equipped vehicles to tell the driver exactly how fast to drive to avoid getting caught at a red. Audi installed special devices at 50 traffic lights in Ingolstadt, Germany with sensors that calculate your current speed and the distance to the light to determine what adjustments are needed to lay off the brake pedal. The result is improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions, optimal use of time spent on the road and less wear and tear on the brakes. The system can also adapt to traffic patterns to minimize the amount of red lights you'll have to encounter on your daily drive. After soldering on virtually unchanged for 100 years, it appears the modern day traffic light is almost ready for a makeover. Technology is good.

Audi announced today that it handed over two 420-hp mid-engine R8s two the German Motorsport Association for the ‘Norisring Speed Weekend.’ The two Audi R8s were prepared specifically for use as the official DTM safety car for the first time by quattro GmbH.
”There were not many modifications required, though, because the R8 possesses the genes of a perfect sports car,” says Werner Frowein, managing director of quattro GmbH.
Audi also offered another R8 for use as a racing taxi.
